Tongue Base Reduction
Tongue base reduction procedures are performed to reduce the volume of the base of the tongue. The tongue base is the portion of the tongue that is not visible through the mouth and sits in front of the voice box. Surprisingly, recovery from tongue base surgery is less uncomfortable than the more well-known tonsillectomy. As the procedure is performed through the mouth, there are no external incisions or scars. This procedure is almost never performed as a stand-alone procedure for the surgical treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea.
