Restless Leg Syndrome

Do your legs get the jitters at night? Let us put those jitters to rest so you can sleep.

Restless legs syndrome (RLS) is a neurological condition that is characterized by the irresistible urge to move the legs. Patients note a strong urge to move their legs at night time when sitting or lying still. Often a creepy, crawly sensation accompanies the urge to move the legs. This sensation is relieved with leg movement. Not only is this symptom frustrating, but it can also make it difficult to fall asleep and, ultimately, lead to sleep deprivation.

A substantial number of people who have RLS also have periodic limb movements of sleep (PLMS). These are jerks that occur every 20 to 30 seconds on and off throughout the night. This can cause partial awakenings that disrupt sleep, leading to daytime fatigue or sleepiness.

Treatment involves ruling out associated conditions, which may lead to RLS, along with nightly medication. If you think you have Restless Leg Syndrome, we can get you the help you need. Contact us for an appointment and let Dr. Ludwick diagnose your condition and offer a treatment plan that will have your legs feeling calm and relaxed.
